About BodySort: Human Organ Systems game

Where does the pancreas belong? What about alveoli, capillaries, neurons, or the spinal cord?

In BodySort: Human Organ Systems, students race to sort 50 organs, tissues, cells, and structures into four major body systems: digestive, circulatory, respiratory, and nervous.

As students play, they build familiarity with the parts that make up each system and begin connecting individual structures to the larger jobs our bodies perform. Fast-paced scoring, combo bonuses, and surprise prion attacks add a little chaos along the way!

Two difficulty levels make BodySort useful for introducing organ systems, practising vocabulary, or reviewing before a test.

This browser-based game requires no downloads and can be played individually or as a classroom team challenge.

How to play

Drag each structure into the body system it is most closely associated with: digestive, circulatory, respiratory, or nervous. Correct answers earn points, quick correct answers build combo bonuses, and incorrect answers cost points.

Stay alert! A surprise prion attack can remove one of your correctly placed items and take points off your score.

Mode Selection:
• Learning Mode: Traits are colour-coded by category for extra guidance.
• Challenge Mode: All traits appear in the same colour, so students have to rely on what they know.

Play Style Options:
• Individual Mode: Enjoy the game on your own.
• Team Mode: The game pauses every 20 seconds to allow a new player to take a turn (4 turns total).

A built-in leaderboard for each mode and play style lets students compete against themselves, classmates, or other teams over multiple rounds.

BodySort supports outcomes CS8.3 and CS8.4, which address relationships among cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems and the interdependence of organ systems in maintaining a healthy human body.

BodySort supports MS-LS1-3: From Molecules to Organisms – Structures and Processes, which addresses the human body as a system of interacting subsystems composed of groups of specialized cells.

The NGSS performance expectation specifically includes the digestive, circulatory, respiratory, and nervous systems among the systems students may examine.
