Color Splash Kit™: pH Art Lab

Unleash your inner artist while exploring the science of acids and bases!

In this creative science activity, you’ll use safe, natural pH indicators to paint vivid artwork that changes color based on the pH of the solutions. By painting with different household liquids like vinegar or baking soda water, students will discover how chemistry can be both beautiful and educational.

This hands-on experiment combines art, chemistry, and critical thinking to show how everyday substances can be classified by their acidity or alkalinity.

For this one-day science project, you will:

1. Make your own natural pH indicator.

2. Explore acids and bases by testing household/classroom solutions.

3. Paint with chemistry: watch colors change in real time as you apply different liquids.

4. Understand how scientists detect pH changes in the environment, food, and even the human body.

This kit includes all scientific supplies to complete the activity. You’ll only need to provide water.

• The Individual-size kit comes with enough supplies to run the experiment once.

• The group-size kit comes with enough supplies to run the experiment eight times (enough for eight groups of students).

You need to provide:
• Water

No necessary laboratory equipment is required.

Cleaning and safety supplies are not included in the kit. Cleaning supplies you will need include paper towels and a spray cleaner you have that's suitable for your surfaces. None of the components included in this kit require any special cleaning methods.

For this kit which doesn't include living organisms gloves can be worn but are not required. Wearing gloves is a great scientific habit to take, and can be fun to do but there is no issue with not wearing any.

If you want gloves, you can add a Mini Safety Set to your kit which includes gloves and a reusable plastic apron to protect your clothes.
